February 14th

Picture-A-Day:
My Valentine's Dinner = complete and total chaos.
My wonderful husband and I will be celebrating our love this weekend, and I cannot wait!

Funny story: tonight at Ryan's (restaurant), Alyssa's friend overheard a lady saying in Spanish "why does that white woman have a black baby and a mexican baby?" I can't decide whether to be amused or offended. I am both. I probably shouldn't be offended. I'm sure I've done my share of staring and wondering about the make-up of some families. But I feel like shouting "It's none of your business! You don't know me, and you don't know anything about my family!" It makes me wonder though, how many others are saying or thinking the same thing. I often get curious looks, and sometimes people are so bold as to ask about them, "are they both yours?" I reply "yes," it's fun to keep them guessing. Some ask if they're twins (which seems ridiculous, but it's not outside the realm of possibility), and a very few ask if they're adopted. I guess it bothers me to think that people who don't know a thing about me are whispering about me from across the room, making judgments about my family, when they really have no idea. I guess I better get used to it though, huh?

  2. I get a lot of "Are they really brother and sister?" YES! "No- I mean for REAL." Yes for real! They have the same mom and dad (me!)

    OR
"Is she from China?" No she is Korean "Oh, that’s the same thing right?" ummmm, no it is a totally different country!

I also find that people are more willing to point out bad things about them because they are adopted...

But other people are great, so I guess we should just ignore the idiots, huh?!
