August 30th

As you know, we have been having some difficulty with our boys these last couple weeks. It's nothing too out of the ordinary, they just all of a sudden started breaking through all the baby-proofing we've done. We spend a couple weeks chasing them around putting out fires (figuratively), before we were able to slow down enough to realize we now need to TODDLER proof our house, which is a lot different than baby proofing. We had to reinforce baby gates because the boys were knocking them down. We had to buy stronger cupboard door locks because the boys broke some of them. We have had to do some other similar things around the house in order to save our sanity. Somewhere in the middle of that chaos, I said "Let's take the boys to the zoo." I really wanted to get them out and do something fun with them, rather than being frustrated with cleaning up after them all the time. I wanted a chance to enjoy their company, watch them learn, and have fun together. Derrick came with us, which made it extra fun. Much as I love doing things as a family, it was nice to be able to focus all of our attention on the boys. It was refreshing, and fun.

This is sort of the traditional zoo picture that we have always taken with the girls, so I had to take one of the boys too. {If you want to see more zoo animal pictures, click here.}
