Picture-A-Day:
It's been a fun-filled, playing outside, kind of week. The weather has been mostly beautiful, flowers are in bloom, and summer is upon us.

Jayna got these flowers from our homeless neighbor. We have a homeless neighbor, and the kids LOVE him. That might seem weird. Maybe it is weird. But really, he seems just like any other neighbor, only he doesn't have his own house. I think sometimes he stays at the shelter. Right now he's staying with a friend down the street. He is a childhood friend of our next door neighbor, so he's there a LOT, hanging out in their backyard when the weather's nice. He walks around town a lot. He's really goofy and funny with the kids, and they adore him. And they know he's homeless, and they know that he gets in trouble sometimes (last summer he spent a few months in jail for public intoxication), and they still love him. We're very careful about it - their conversations are always "over the fence," and he only ever comes in our yard when adults are present. And that's only happened a couple times. I think it is a GREAT life lesson for the kids to have an up-close friendship with a "homeless drunk," to give them an understanding that he's a REAL PERSON, not just a "bum." While it may seem weird, and yes we have to be careful about it, I think it's really awesome.

Mmmm, barbeque chicken!

The girls were feeling posey. I told Jayna to "look happy," and she threw her arms up like this. SO CUTE!

The boys were sitting here playing together and being so cute. By the time I came back with the camera, this is what I saw. I think J either hit T, or took a toy from him or something, but they were not happy anymore.

  1. I love them all. Good pictures. The one of the boys crying is classic.
