A Day In Pictures

Ever wonder what a Stay-At-Home-Mom does all day? Probably not, since a lot of my readers ARE SAHM's, but that's ok. I don't know why, but for some reason I felt compelled to record my little tasks throughout the day. Maybe just to make myself realize just how productive I really am, even though sometimes at the end of the day it feels like I worked all day, but you can't tell by looking at my house. So, here you go:

breakfast

get dressed

take kids for walk to YMCA, work out, come home

lunch

a little laundry

fill/run/empty/fill/run/empty

my little helper!

dipes and wipes... too many times a day

upstairs for naps

peek-a-boo, and nighty-night!

(I have a laundry fairy - sometimes I wake up in the morning and the laundry is all folded!)

clean out fridge to make room for more!

finish up grocery list (yes, mine's typed, that way I don't have to write itevery week.

put groceries away

start dinner

can you tell which is the salad, and which is the compost?

what a cutie!

dinner time!

bath time!

pajama time (there's my little helper again)

vacuum

and, finish off the night with a nice bowl of popcorn and a movie.
Phew, I'm tired again just thinking about that day. That was a typical day in that it was not typical. But this day wasn't extra busy, or extra laid back. It was pretty typical in that regard. Every day is a little the same and a little different. I go to the Y about twice a week (I'd like to go more, but I'd have to sacrifice something else in my life, and this is where my priorities lie right now). Since it's been nicer outside I've been trying to take the kids for walks more. I grocery shop every other Friday. Some days we're home most of the day, some days we have appointments, some days I have lots of errands to run, some days I have lots of phone calls to make.

Every day I feed the kids, get the girls off to school, change diapers, wipe messy faces, run the dishwasher twice, and a mess of other things. On this day I sat outside and read my book while I waited for the water to boil for the spaghetti. I also laid down for about 40 minutes after I got home from grocery shopping. So, it's not like I don't have any breaks. But I stay busy. And I'd like to say I love every minute of it, but I really hate making phone calls. And I'm not a fan of doctor appointments. But I do love my family, and I'm thankful that I get to be the one to raise my kids.

  1. it's not glamorous, is it.
but like you said, really so worth it.

    you are an awesome mom!
and i often wish we lived close enough to go to the Y together or share coffee while our kiddos play . . .

i'm starting out this morning by making granola.
then we'll do school-work and laundry.
    then i'm going to sew.
then we have a meeting with the bank.
then we'll all four be home for the evening.
    maybe sew some more.

    so my day today goes
love. love. love it when it's done (laundry). love. stress. love. love.

hope your day today has more good than bad. :)
