The Fruit of his Labor

This is so cool to me... Here we are standing in front of a brand new hospital. This is the job that Derrick worked on from August 2008-October 2009, just over a year, and now it's complete. It started as a field, turned into a hole in the ground surrounded by cranes and other construction vehicles, soon the frame started to go up, hundreds of people worked together (150 electricians alone, not to mention plumbers, carpenters, painters, roofers, and all the other trades), and a year later, here is this gigantic, beautiful, modern building! they're opening next week, and they offered an open house for the community to come stroll the halls. I wanted to see the finished product, and I thought it would be really great for the kids to see where Dad has been going to work, and to see how amazing the finished project is.

In front of the hospital is this: it says "I will restore you to health and heal your wounds. Jeremiah 16:17" Pretty neat.
This is the view from the 6th floor. On the horizon is Notre Dame. Derrick worked on the 5th floor, and unfortunately we didn't get to see it, but the 6th floor is identical to the 5th, so we at least got to see what his work looks like, if not the exact rooms he worked in.
Sorry this picture is sideways, I just wanted to showcase that electrical panel behind him - they installed these in all the rooms.
And, behind Sage, some switches...
bathroom lights

I was so proud to see the end result of all his hard work. I picture our grandkids driving past the hospital, saying "my grandpa helped build that building."
