A couple weeks ago we went to the Circus. THE CIRCUS! It seems like I went to a circus once when I was a kid, but I don't remember anything about it, so let's just say this was my first time at a circus. It was ALL of our first times.
My idea of what the circus is comes from books, movies, etc, set about a century ago. So, it felt really bizarre to be there. I kept thinking "these are real people! where do they come from? why are they in the circus?" they don't have trains anymore, everyone stays in RV's - fancy looking ones too! I felt like I'd gone back in time to see an old fashioned spectacle. There were no "freaks" (for lack of a better word), I'm sure that would be frowned upon in today's world.
All in all, it was a fun, entertaining experience for all of us. And now I'm reading the book Water for Elephants, which I didn't realize was about the circus. It was a total accident that I picked up the book AND went to the circus within a couple days of each other.
Ok, here we go:
The Big Top from outside (from in the car as we drove up)
